My First Blog Hop!

Today I am super excited to be part of my very first blog hop! Practical Scrappers has paired up with Paper Secrets to bring you a blog hop featuring Wood as a design element!

You should have arrived here from
Stephanie U's
blog, and I am so glad to have you hop along to my blog! I had a lot of fun creating this great wall hanging with a wood placemat for a base!

After using stencils to paint the quote, I used Washi tape as a border and added some Little Yellow Bicycle Dimensional accents.

I also have a bonus project for you today!  We moved into a new house and I am trying to find ways to make it our own.  Both of my projects lend themselves to that.

For this project I took a wooden letter and wrapped it in washi tape.

I used glue dots to add the laser cut wooden cross and washi tape to create a hanger with a bow.

I am so excited to be a part of my first blog hop I decided to do a giveaway for one lucky follower! Just follow my blog and leave a comment and you will be entered to win this great prize.  Winner will be chosen at random on Thursday, August 29th and will be announced here on the pspapercreations blog.

After you signed up to follow along and left a comment for a chance to win this great prize,
hop along to
Karen Sessions
blog to see what wonderful things she did with wood!

Don't forget to follow the rules at Practical Scrappers to enter to win the Paper Secrets Prize too!

Pencil Shavings!

Today is Frugal Finds day on Practical Scrappers.  Our frugal find is pencils!  I signed up because I like a challenge but sat down to create a layout using pencils and was at a complete loss!  I held the pencil in my hand and looked at it and thought about it.  I was trying to find a way to make it flatter than it is when it hit me!  I do not have to use the whole pencil, how about just the shavings?!?!  And that is how these adorable apple slices came to be!
The slices are just a single pencil shaving from a red pencil.  So needed to be pieced together as they are very fragile.  It was also a challenge getting them to stay put without breaking, but some glue dots did the trick!
I simply used a black marker to draw the seeds after they were mounted on the layout!
p.s.Give it a try!  Sometimes the unconventional uses for items create the best results!  Swing by Practical Scrappers to see what other great ideas the ladies came up with.

August Card Sketch

Another Super fun Card Sketch!  I LOVE SUMMER!  Summer is coming quickly to a close so I wanted to design a card sketch that would help us carry summer through the rest of the year!
Go check out the ladies at Practical Scrappers takes on the this fun sketch!

Wedding Card

When we had a wedding feature over at Practical Scrappers the ladies did not disappoint!  There are some gorgeous ideas over there so go check them out!! I decided to use a non-traditional color palette and Love how the card came out! The hearts are metal brads and I used rub-ons to create the letters on them.
I have a couple of friends getting married next week, I think they will be getting this card! I hope they like it!

Card Sketch from June!

I have had so much fun designing the card sketches each month over at Practical Scrappers and June was no exception!  Here is the sketch, and below is my take on it.  I always find it funny when my card changes into something different than the sketch when I designed the sketch, but I guess that is the nature of sketches!  Most of the time my card is almost exactly the sketch, this month it morphed quite a bit!  That is the fun of working with sketches!  Don't let it hold you back.  Use it as inspiration and come up with your own ideas!

Run by Practical scrappers and see what the other ladies created to get your creative juices flowing too!
p.s.Create a card with this sketch and share it with us!

TOO LONG!

I have to apologize for being incommunicado.  We have been in the process of moving and getting settled.  The last box is unpacked and the craft room is set up so I am confident that I will be back to regular posts again!  Here is a sneak peak at what is to come!

Check back soon to see these and other projects!
