Wedding Card

When we had a wedding feature over at Practical Scrappers the ladies did not disappoint!  There are some gorgeous ideas over there so go check them out!! I decided to use a non-traditional color palette and Love how the card came out! The hearts are metal brads and I used rub-ons to create the letters on them.
I have a couple of friends getting married next week, I think they will be getting this card! I hope they like it!

Card Sketch from June!

I have had so much fun designing the card sketches each month over at Practical Scrappers and June was no exception!  Here is the sketch, and below is my take on it.  I always find it funny when my card changes into something different than the sketch when I designed the sketch, but I guess that is the nature of sketches!  Most of the time my card is almost exactly the sketch, this month it morphed quite a bit!  That is the fun of working with sketches!  Don't let it hold you back.  Use it as inspiration and come up with your own ideas!

Run by Practical scrappers and see what the other ladies created to get your creative juices flowing too!
p.s.Create a card with this sketch and share it with us!

TOO LONG!

I have to apologize for being incommunicado.  We have been in the process of moving and getting settled.  The last box is unpacked and the craft room is set up so I am confident that I will be back to regular posts again!  Here is a sneak peak at what is to come!

Check back soon to see these and other projects!

I know, I know the old saying goes
"Out with the Old and in with the new."
That seems to be the standard but over at Practical Scrappers we like to be a little more, well, practical, and use our stash.  Today, I hope to show you that you can incorporate both old and new elements into a layout and the result can be perfect!
We all love the new collections that come out throughout the year and can't wait to get our hands on them.  I am super guilty of this, and because I have been doing this for so long, I have enough supplies to open my own store two times over!  So, this layout incorporates some new patterned paper, wood accents and washi tape and some new stickers.  It also includes some old vellum, acetate and felt flowers, Scrabble letters, and epoxy stickers.
I created the sunburst with triangles of paper scraps.
Here you can see the old and the new working seamlessly together!
The burlap is a newer idea and I layered some older accents to create a focal point in the corner!
So take out those old supplies, dust them off and find a way to incorporate them in your next layout!

Double Page Layout Love!

The trend has swung back again to two page layouts and I am very happy about that!  We are featuring 2 page layouts over on Practical Scrappers today so come on by and get some inspiration from our amazing design team!  Here is my two page layout:
I have also started to include both new and old supplies on my layouts and this is no exception
The Simple Stories title cards and word blocks are great and I used some great new printed kraft paper.
I added some shaped metal brads I have had lying around for ages.  Now that they are on the layout, I can not believe I have not used them sooner!
 Some stars and hexagons...Very Trendy!
Some "Craft Floss" that I have had for years and never knew what to do with.
p.s. find some inspiration to create a two page layout!

A Mother's Love

With Mother's day rapidly approaching I wanted to share a layout I created with the only photograph I have of my Mother and I when I was a baby.  Yes, that's right the only photo I have of us!  (They did not have a camera when I was a baby)  I think this single fact might have made me into the crazy scrapbooker I am today!
I love to use a sewing machine on my layouts and this layout seemed even more perfect since my mom taught me how to sew and bought me my first sewing machine!
I added some stitch details and also created a pocket by zigzag stitching three sides of a rectangle!
The pocket contains my journaling.  I had a lot to say and did not want it to take over my layout so I decided to hide it in a pretty pocket!
In several places on this layout you will notice these pretty ruffles as well.  These are actually coffee filters!  I folded the circle several times, trimmed it, punched one hole and opened it out.  It created the perfect accent to this picture!
I had fun playing with the accents that brought the page together!  Try adding some stitching, a pocket, or some coffee filter ruffles to your next layout!  And take some time this Mother's Day to remember all that your Mother has done for you and find a way to say thanks!
